What We Do

Brooklyn Parks and Open Spaces Coalition (BPOC) is an advocacy and networking group for all Brooklyn parks and for the neighbors who use and benefit from their parks.

Parks can improve our health, economy, environment and sense of community, but only when they are shaped by the people in the communities in which they are located. BPOC supports and mobilizes community park groups, community organizers, other non-profit organizations, electeds, city officials and funders to activate the power of parks.

Our vision is beautiful, clean, safe and sustainable parks and other open spaces throughout the entire borough. By delivering online programs and in-person, socially distant events, funding, resources and research, BPOC seeks to help Brooklyn realize the full power of its parks. And in doing so, build stronger communities and a healthier environment in Brooklyn.

““For too long parks have been seriously underfunded, and the New Yorkers who depend on them have had to suffer the consequences.”

— Former NYC City Council Speaker Corey Johnson
